How I Earned Nuelink Mentions and Backlinks from Direct Competitors
Contextual backlinks and branded product listings supporting SEO and AI search visibility.
The brief
Getting competitors to recommend Nuelink
Getting another website to link to your product is one challenge. Getting a competitor to recommend it to its own readers is another.
For Nuelink, I built an outreach campaign around that harder brief: securing mentions and contextual backlinks on competitors’ websites.
The original campaign documented placements across 14 competitors, including SocialPilot, Agorapulse, NapoleonCat, ContentStudio, and Planable.
The approach depended on finding a useful place for Nuelink in each publisher’s content, offering value, and working through relationships built over years of link building.
The client
What Is Nuelink?
Nuelink helps creators, brands, and agencies schedule, manage, automate, analyze, and repurpose social media content across multiple platforms. It operates in a crowded market alongside established tools with their own audiences, content teams, and search presence.
A relevant competitor mention could introduce Nuelink to readers already comparing tools in its category.
The challenge
Giving Competitors a Reason to Include Us
A competing software company has little reason to add another tool to its website simply because someone asks. Its editors need a reason the mention improves the article, and its marketing team may see a competitor link as sending attention elsewhere.
The campaign therefore needed more than a generic backlink request. I had to identify content where Nuelink belonged, explain the reader value of the addition, and reach people who could approve it. Where possible, the placement also needed to be do-follow.
The approach
My Approach
Start with articles that already have room for other tools
I researched competitor blogs and resources that published alternatives guides, comparison articles, tool roundups, and related educational content. These formats offered an editorial reason to mention another product.
Match the pitch to the content
I looked for a specific contribution Nuelink could make to the article. For product lists, that meant a relevant tool entry. For educational articles, it meant a Nuelink resource that supported the topic already being discussed.
Offer value and use established relationships
The original campaign combined value-first outreach with contacts developed over years of link building. Those relationships helped me reach editors, SEO managers, and other people responsible for content decisions.
I positioned Nuelink around its usefulness and fit for the article.
Secure the mention and the link
A positive reply was useful, but a published placement was the delivery outcome. The retained outreach screenshots show publishers confirming additions and do-follow links, connecting the outreach work to concrete placements.
Those confirmations support the historical campaign record. New opportunities that are still awaiting publication are excluded from the results below.

Branded Listicle Placements for AI Search Visibility
Alongside contextual backlinks to Nuelink content, I secured branded product listings on competitors’ websites.
The goal was to get Nuelink named and described inside articles about social media automation, management tools, and alternatives, where readers are already comparing solutions.
Why the brand name and surrounding description matter
A contextual link can point readers to a useful Nuelink article without explaining the product.
A branded listicle entry explicitly connects the name Nuelink with its category, features, and use cases. Several of these pages describe its ability to turn blogs, stores, videos, and podcasts into scheduled social posts.
I pursued these placements as part of the AI search strategy: building a broader set of third-party pages that name Nuelink as a relevant option. My aim was to improve the material available for AI engines to discover and potentially cite when answering tool-recommendation questions.
